Dry needling & remedial massage.
Dry Needling is a technique that releases myofascial trigger points and tight muscles, using fine acupuncture needles. Used within your remedial massage treatment along with other techniques, dry needling helps treat pain caused by many conditions, including:
Sciatic and gluteal pain
Piriformis syndrome
Lower back pain
Headaches related to muscle tension
Shoulder and rotator cuff injuries
Tendonopathy, such as tennis elbow, Achilles or hamstring tendonopathy
General muscular tension and injury
Dry Needling.
How does dry needling work?
Single use, sterile filament needles are inserted gently into a shortened muscle or trigger point, causing a neurological response within the muscle fibres. This allows the muscle to relax and release, reducing pain and improving the healing process.
While Dry Needling isn't painful for most people, the needle can be mildly uncomfortable when entering the muscle, which can twitch or cramp. This is a good indication that the we have successfully targeted the trigger point or area of tightness, the muscle will relax post twitch.
Occasionally, some people experience muscle soreness or mild bruising, depending on the muscle treated, the injury present and general tissue health.
